Magic Race Through the Jungle is an immersive indoor thematic renovation project for Nanfeng City Shopping Mall, located within the core downtown commercial district of Shanghai. Centered on a magical wild jungle adventure narrative, it breaks the monotonous vibe of conventional commercial spaces and builds a surreal, otherworldly immersive scene.

The design delivers integrated wrapping for walkway floors, walls and ceilings, blending fantasy animal motifs and light-and-shadow art installations to form a layered magical jungle landscape. Stretching along the full-floor circulation of the mall, the installation blurs visual and experiential boundaries of space. It creates an all-age exploratory experience for children, teenagers and adults, injecting playful storytelling and dynamic vitality into the commercial public realm.

The design applies 2D graphics on the floor and sets up a child-oriented path alongside pedestrian walkways for adults. This gives rise to the “Jungle Race”, a creative and surreal race track spanning the entire floor of the shopping mall. Explosive colours and immersive graphics fill the corridor with a surreal ambiance.

The race track adopts a jungle theme. Animal and nature-related elements deepen the sense of immersion. Floors, walls and ceilings of the corridor all become parts of this playful track, resembling a curved surreal canvas that transports children’s imagination to another world. The whole space is designed as a looping race track full of surprises. Developed from an experiential perspective, it is rich in storylines and interactive elements, delivering fun for both children and adults.
