Hang Out represents a creative activation solution for the main plaza within the public space of a mixeduse commercial complex. Designed to energize Crystal plaza, a rising international business landmark in Qiantan, Pudong, Shanghai, the project fosters recreational and social engagement among visitors, appealing to children, teenagers and adults alike.

The largescale hexagonal structure is divided into six smaller equilateral triangles, each equipped with distinct suspended functions. Inspired by crystalline triangular geometry, the project takes shape as a monumental hexagon, with diverse featured functions hanging down from above to generate a floating public realm.

Embodied in this “Hang Out” space is an experimental spirit that brings explorations of gravitational forms into everyday public scenarios. Each of the six equilateral triangles delivers unique suspended features intended to encourage social interaction among users, including hanging balls, hammock nets, hammocks, tubeforest installations and suspended lounges.Derived from groundlevel graphic patterns, the hexagon integrates two core researched elements: painted landscape and groundmounted built forms.
