As the debut practice of New Hope’s original quail IP “New Sir”, the Hello New World 1.0 Children’s Playground at Chengdu New Hope Jingguanfu is fully designed by 100 Architects. Drawing on the entrepreneurial heritage of the New Hope Group centered on quail breeding, the design elevates the quail IP image into a core sculptural installation of the site. Abandoning the conventional plain wood natural design style, the project adopts a bold, vibrant color palette to build an all-age children’s playground integrating large combined slides, tunnel mazes, trampolines, circular fun runways and night lighting landscapes.

The playground accommodates the play needs of children from toddlers to teenagers. Within the Chinese-style courtyard community landscape, it introduces a fantasy-driven IP play world, realizing the integrated implementation of brand culture, artistic installations and community functional spaces.

The design of this multi-functional play space features a complete narrative storyline. It depicts a warm scene where two cute quail chicks are about to hatch in the nest, accompanied and fed by the mother quail- an inspirational story that gives birth to the project’s theme “HELLO NEW WORLD”. The three quails serve as the core IP icons, presented as vertical play installations at the center of the site. Children can climb, slide and wander through the quail structures to explore diverse and immersive play experiences. Centered on a circular layout surrounding the main quail installations, supporting leisure and social interaction platforms are arranged with a wealth of extended functions, greatly enhancing the versatility and landscape diversity of the play area.

During production, the tiny worm held in the mother bird’s mouth posed considerable structural and craftsmanship challenges. Featuring multi-curved surfaces and symmetrical contours, the delicate shape was highly difficult to realize. Through rigorous structural calculation and meticulous manual polishing, the team successfully accomplished the intricate caterpillar form with high precision.

Meanwhile, customized paint is specially applied to withstand local acid rain conditions. The FRP structures with sheet metal lining require extremely high craftsmanship standards. Our team devoted full efforts to refined production and strict quality control, ultimately achieving the perfect presentation of the original design effect.
