Spectrum is an activity-enhancing installation consisting of two artworks in the main atrium of a mixed-use commercial complex. Viewed from the skylight above, arrays of coloured nylon threads generate rainbow-like luminous effects. Located at Crystal Plaza, an emerging international business hub in Pudong, Shanghai, the project is designed to energise the venue and foster playful social interaction among new visitors, attracting children, teenagers and adults alike.

Conceived as a multi-functional platform, it delivers a simple yet vibrant space for play and rest for both children and adults. The design draws inspiration from the physical phenomenon of light refracting through crystals, where light splits into a spectrum of distinct colours. Spectrum is a colourful sculptural installation created to beautify the primary indoor social zone within the commercial premises.

Looking down from the skylights of the two atriums, colourful nylon threads simulate beams of coloured light, spanning the 25-metre vertical void to form a rainbow stretching all the way to the floor and creating a vividly hued plaza. The plaza at the base comprises interlocking circular activity platforms shaped by projected light, integrating into a unified space beneath the suspension cables.
